Auto-apply a coupon to specific customers

How to automatically apply a Foxy coupon at checkout for customers who match a customer attribute or an active subscription, without them entering a code.

Automatically apply a coupon at checkout for customers who match a rule you set, so members or subscribers receive their discount without entering a code.

Create the coupon first (see Create a coupon).

How it works

Auto-apply works together with the coupon's customer restrictions. When a customer authenticates (signs in) at checkout, Foxy checks the customer attribute and subscription restrictions. If the customer matches, the coupon is applied automatically.

Steps

  1. 1

    Go to the Foxy admin and open the coupon under Coupons.

  2. 2

    Set at least one customer restriction (see Restrict a coupon to specific customers for detail):

    • Customer attribute restrictions: enter a Field and Value, such as a membership or wholesale attribute.

    • Customer subscription restrictions: enter a product code the customer must have in an active subscription.

    Turn on Auto apply coupon for matching customers.

  4. 4

    Save the coupon.

Notes

  • The customer must authenticate (sign in) at checkout for auto-apply to be evaluated.

  • Auto-apply only works with the customer attribute and subscription restrictions. Without one of those set, there is nothing to match against.

  • Common uses: a membership discount based on an active subscription, or wholesale pricing based on a customer attribute.
